Opening your grab app this week will pop up a message that the cancellation policy has been updated, to help reduce joy bookers and unreasonable cancellations. This is to also help protect the grab drivers who are trying to make a living, and to make it fair given there are actually strict penalties now when they are the ones who cancel on you.
One update to the policy includes a P50 charge on the grab customer if you cancel after 5minutes of the booking. If you cancel within 5 minutes, no charge will be incurred. On the bright side, if your driver is the one who cancels, you’ll instantly get 30 reward points.
Further, if you’re a serial cancel-er, grab will suspend your account indefinitely. We think this is fair.
