5. ACER NITRO 5 AN515: PHP46,995

Quick Spec: AMD RYZEN 7-2700U | Radeon RX560X 4GB DDR5 | 1TB | 15.6″ FHD IPS Panel | 4GB RAM (+Another 4GB Ram for FREE Until June 3, 2019) | 2 Years Warranty

NITRO 5.gif

The Acer Nitro 5 rocking a Ryzen 7-2700U is #5 on our list, being the only Ryzen 7 powered gaming laptop available under 50K. Featuring Dolby Audio sound, an IPS Panel, and a decent cooling system – these features plus the spec has it screaming bang for the buck for 47K. To put things in perspective, the RX560X performs better than a GTX1050 and the Ryzen 7 2700U outperforms 8th gen Intel core i5s of the same class. Add Acer’s free 4GB ram upgrade that will run until June 3, 2019 – this laptop is worth considering this May 2019. It’s really only those thick bezels of yesteryear that’s holding this down.

4. ASUS TUF GAMING FX505DY: PHP39,995

Quick Spec: AMD RYZEN 5 3550H| Radeon RX560X 4GB DDR5 | 1TB | 15.6″ FHD 120Hz IPS Panel | 4GB RAM | 2 Years Global Warranty

TUF Gaming.gif

ASUS TUF GAMING Laptop is one of the best laptop’s under 39,995. It is also featured on the under 50K list because it has enough punch to play with more expensive offerings found above 40 and below 50K. The star of the show is AMD’s new H series Ryzen processors that operate on 35W, as compared to Intel’s H series which operates at 45W. Performance is comparable to Intel Core i5-8300H but will be outperformed by Intel’s upcoming 9th gen i5-9300H. As for the RX560X, it fares better than the GTX1050. To top it all off, the TUF GAMING FX505DY features a SLIM BEZEL 120HZ IPS Panel which is a feature usually found on laptops above the 50K pricepoint. So at 39,995, the TUF GAMING FX505DY actually directly competes with laptops found at the 49,995 price and wins in most cases. ASUS also has a standard 2 Year Global warranty to back you up.

3. ACER NITRO 5 AN515: PHP 39,995

Quick Spec: AMD RYZEN 5-2500U | Radeon RX560X 4GB DDR5 | 1TB+128GB SSD | 15.6″ FHD IPS Panel | 4GB RAM (+Another 4GB Ram for FREE Until June 3, 2019) | 2 Years Warranty

NITRO 5

Yes, this is the same NITRO5 chassis as the #5 laptop on this list but this one comes with a Ryzen 5 2500U instead. It comes off at #3 though and better than it’s most powerful Ryzen 7 siblings because of 2 things – PRICE and SPECIFICATION. These are 2 reasons that it also edges past the FX505DY. So while it only rocks a Ryzen 5 2500U, thicker bezels and a non-120hz screen – the ACER Nitro 5 is equipped with 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD (a rarity at this pricepoint) and is also eligible for ACER’s FREE 4GB ram promo until June 3, 2019. This makes it the only gaming laptop with 8GB ram and SSD under 50K. What makes this deal even sweeter is than it can be found at only PHP39,995. This laptop can surely throw it’s weight around the boys at the upper class.

RUNNER UP: ASUS TUF GAMING FX505DT – PHP49,995

Quick Spec: AMD Ryzen 5-3550H | Nvidia GTX1650 4GB DDR5 | 4GB Ram | 15.6″ FHD 120hz IPS-like PANEL | 1TB HDD Storage | 2 Years Global Warranty

TUF Gaming

While the 2 Nitro 5 laptops above differed greatly in 2 specifications (processor and ssd), this 2nd TUF GAMING FX505D on our list features only a GPU bump. That is enough to place this as our 2nd best Gaming Laptop under 50K, though.

As mentioned earlier in our descriptions, the 49,995 pricepoint is plagued with gaming laptops specced with Intel’s 8th generation i5-8300H paired with Nvidia’s GTX1050. Further, all those laptops are usually paired with base configurations of only 4GB ram and 1TB HDD. The TUF GAMING FX505, indeed, comes with just a measly 4GB ram and slow 1TB HDD, but it unlike all others – it comes with a RYZEN 5-3550H processor and Nvidia’s spanking bran new GTX1650 which not only outperforms the GTX1050 but also it’s more expensive GTX1050ti.

To be honest, we were expecting GTX1650 equippd laptops to be priced between 55K to 60K so seeing ASUS price their TUF GAMING FX505 at 49,995 was a big surprise to us and a win for consumers! As an extra icing on the cake, the ASUS TUF GAMING FX505 features a 120hz IPS-like panel to really take advantage of the FPS you’ll be getting from a GPU of this calibre. At medium settings, you’ll be able to hit 100-120fps easy. And oh, the keyboard is RGB, and the chassis is US MILITARY STANDARD certified.

(WINNER) LENOVO L340 GAMING – PHPH49,995

Quick Spec: 9th Gen Intel i5-9300H | Nvidia GTX1650 4GB DDR5 | 8GB Ram | 15.6″ FHD IPS PANEL | 1TB HDD Storage | 2 Years Premium Warranty

L340

The fight was close but the L340 GAMING laptop came up on top mainly due to out of the box specification. You can read our previous article about the TUF GAMING FX505DY versus the LENOVO L340 GAMING If you want to know more about the fight in detail.

To summarize why the L340 GAMING won, it’s strongly due to it’s out of the box specification of a 9th generation Intel Core i5-9300H, a 16series GTX1650 and an 8GB ram. 4GB ram just doesn’t cut it anymore these days so if you have have a non-flexible budget of 50K The Lenovo L340 Gaming laptop is your best bet.

If you were to opt for ASUS’ TUF GAMING FX505DY or any others below 50K, you’ll need to shell-out an additional PHP3000 pesos and that’s an additional 6% spend, something you could’ve spent for a gaming mouse and keyboard instead. Though, we’d personally recommend spending that money for an SSD first, so since Lenovo’s L340 gaming laptop already comes with 8GB, then that money is a no-brainer for an extra 240GB SSD for faster boot times and load times.

Additionally, Lenovo’s after-sales service offering is just so much better to ignore. Compared to other gaming laptops that offer only 1 year On-Site or 2 years Carry-In, wherein you have to bring your laptop to a service centre if something goes wrong (THIS CAN BE QUITE A HASSLE) – Lenovo’s warranty is 2 Years Onsite service, meaning they will be the ones to go to you if something goes wrong bringing convenience to your door step. Not only that, Lenovo has a zero dead pixel tolerance policy which means that you can have your panel replaced should there be any dead pixels on your panel. Other brands require that there are atleast 3-5 dead pixels before it is considered for replacement. To top it all off, you get a 24/7 round the clock access to tech resources if you happen to need any troubleshooting during the wee hours.

2 Years Premium Care

EDITORS Note: *If you’re willing to stretch to 53K for an upgrade though, then the FX505DT is the better buy because of it’s 120hz panel and military grade certification. Should the FX505DT come with a promo like ACER and receive a 4GB ram upgrade, then the FX505DT will become the obvious winner here.
