Ah yes, new year, new leak.
Last Jan 3, well-known leaker Evan Blass tweeted a photo of the brand-new display design on the upcoming S10, codenamed Beyond 1. This model is presumably the 5.8-inch model, with hole piercing through the upper right side of the screen for the front-facing camera. Previously, Samsung stuck with its classic design of the front-facing camera on the bezel (with no notch!), so this new design on the Beyond 1 is definitely a radical refresh for their flagship. This feature, however, is not new for Samsung, as it was already launched last december on the new Galaxy A8.
The photo also shows a speaker grille on the upper bezel, which they still chose to maintain on the Beyond 1. However, this sexy new bezel looks so thin that it’s hardly noticeable, and users of previous-generation Samsung will likely be in for a much-needed design surprise.
Screen Sizes and variants
Currently, the S10 Beyond 1 is the standard curved 6.1-inch variant, with the Beyond 2 slated to be the bigger, 6.8-inch brother (likely to be called the S10+, as with previous naming schemes). There’s also a Beyond 0 that’s slated to be the budget option, with a flat 5.8-inch screen. Below is another leak that shows the estimated screen sizes from a case manufacturer.
Additional upcoming features
The S10 is presumed to have the newest Snapdragon 855 processor, currently the most powerful processor that’s available for mobile phones. The standard 6.1 Beyond 1 will come in variants with 128GB and 512GB storage capacities; however, the Beyond 2 will have a 128GB, 512GB and a whopping 1TB variant. For local pricing, we have to have any fully confirmed prices.
What we do know – launch and release dates
The Samsung S10 will most likely be shown to the public before the Mobile World Congress which is on Feb 25-28. Historically, this is the event where most major mobile phone manufacturers unveil their latest flagships. But, in true, dominant, Samsung style, the Samsung S10 is planning a Samsung Unpacked event, which is scheduled on February 20. During this time, pre-orders will be open, and shipments will be released to the public on March 8. Expect local availability in the Philippines to be in sync to the global launch, or at least just a few days later.
