Is ASUS releasing a Zenbook 5 under the name Zenbook S?

We were digging through LaptopMedia’s library of models trying to compare and the Zenbook to the XPS13 and we were surprised to find a model under the name “ZENBOOK S UX391” . Judging by the Model naming scheme of ASUS, the UX391 is the direct successor to the UX390 which was released as the Zenbook 3. However, The UX390 was released in 2016 and was only followed by the UX490 Zenbook Deluxe in 2017, which we assumed was the Zenbook 4.

Now usually, ASUS launches their mobile and laptops during Computex. Having launched the Zenfone 5 earlier in MWC, however, means that we may not see any phones launch in Taiwan but the UX391 is a likely candidate as the Zenbook 5. It is the first time, however, that we’re seeing the model name “Zenbook S” ever used in ASUS line of products. It’s also possible that they’re streamlining their model nomenclature by having the Zenbook S as the premiere version of the Zenbook, the same way the Vivobook S is the high-end version of the Vivobook sereis.

Zenbook S

As far as specifications go, LaptopMedia.com lists the Zenbook S Ux391 with an i7-8550u, 13.3″ 4K UHD Touch display, 512GB SSD, 16GB ram and a rather light 1.05KG weight. Dimension is listed at 311 x 213 x 13.3 mm, paired with 50Wh battery which is impressive.

What’s impressive though is the list of ports and features despite it’s ultra thin frame and ultra light weight.
