Qualcomm SD670 coming, touted to offer similar performance to the SD835

With the Snapdragon 845 announced late last year, we were left to wonder why there wasn’t any refresh for the mid-segment and entry-segment mobile processors. While we feel that the SD660 was a great offer from Qualcomm (and still is), we felt that the gap between the 845 and the 660 is now too big of a jump!

The 660 was actually announced to be refreshed to a next generation Snapdragon 670, and rumored to offer performance levels similar to the Snapdragon 835 which will be a terrific choice for 2018’s crop of new mid-tier phones.

This means that as the 670 will impress us even more than how the 660 did, and we hope to see benchmarks soon! The new 670 is built on a 10nm process, and will feature 4 high performance cores and 4 power efficient ones! By saying SD835 performance offering, though, it may only be so for single thread processes but that the SD835 will still pull away in multi-core tests.

Further rumors, however, suggest that the 670 will be short lived and be refreshed as the the first 700 series Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Processor, under the name Qualcomm Snapdragon 710. The 710 is, however, rumored to come with only 2 high performance cores and 6 efficient ones making it a great contender for battery efficient smartphones that will still pack a punch this 2018.
