JBL Philippines is definitely serious in making their name known in the local gaming space. With the launch of their first-ever celebrity Valorant tournament, they aim to make sure that their JBL Quantum-branded headsets become the premium headset choice for serious gamers.
Mainstream and audiophile markets already know JBL for their high-quality sound. As such, don’t expect any less from their gaming lineup particularly their flagship headset.
JBL Quantum One: Flagship Gaming Headset
This time, JBL is focusing on their gaming-oriented JBL Quantum headset series, primarily with their flagship JBL Quantum One. Some major features include active noise cancellation and customizable RGB lighting. More than that. the JBL Quantum One has the JBL QuantumSPHERE360 technology. This tech tracks head positioning and gives a fixed soundscape to users. Overall, this produces a truly unique gaming experience especially for FPS games. We’ve already done a review on the JBL Quantum800, a step down from the Quantum One. It’s no surprise that the Quantum One elevates gaming experience even more from our previous experience with the Quantum800.
Flagship Features, Top-Notch Quality
Here’s a bit more about the QuantumSPHERE360, one of the flagship features, from JBL:
JBL QuantumSPHERE 360 is JBL QuantumSURROUND that’s kicked up a notch by using a head-tracking sensor to fix sounds in 360 degrees of space around you. With typical headphones, when you move your head, the soundscape follows your movement. But with JBL QuantumSPHERE 360, if you rotate your head, the sound source’s perceived location stays in place because the head-tracking sensor compensates for your head movement. For example, if there’s a sound coming from in front of you, and you turn your head to the left, the sound source’s perceived location moves to your right ear—the sound stays locked in space as you move your head.
The JBL Quantum One for First-Person Shooter (FPS) gaming is well-positioned for FPS (First Player Shooter) games. Thus, JBL provided a couple of hardcore Valorant players with the Quantum One headset. Now, they’ve launched the JBL Quantum Valorant Celebrity Challenge – the first Valorant Gaming tournament of JBL in the Philippines. This will be held on October 16, 5:00pm and will be livestreamed on the JBL Philippines facebook page. However, expect this event to be very different compared to any other tournament in the Philippines.
TEAMS AND PARTICIPANTS
The JBL Quantum Valorant Celebrity Challenge is a one-day showmatch with bright stars in the local esports scene.
The first team, nicknamed “Team A”, will be led by hugely popular gamer-influencer Ashley Gosiengfiao. Other talented esports players in her roster are Razzie Binx, Nikkinikki, Grappler Daddy and GianSanity.
Bianca Yao aka Biancake, one of the most loved personalities in the Philippines, will be captain for the second team. Other personalities in her team include GLOCO Gaming, Ashe Gaming, Narpim, and Jawnilla.
All of these personalities will be using the JBL Quantum One during the tournament. Additionally, this tournament is not just any simple tournament. It will feature three different and well-thought challenges for the two teams. Each round of challenges aims to highlight the different features of the JBL Quantum One headset. Pretty neat.
FIRST CHALLENGE: SEE NO EVIL
This will be a one-on-one with handicap game where the team captain will guide their blindfolded member (!!) in navigating through the challenge.
For this, JBL Quantum One’s adjustable and detachable boom mic feature comes in handy. Further, Its echo-cancelling technology delivers clear multiplayer interactions when communicating with teammates. Its DISCORD-certified Game-Chat balance will also arm players with an added advantage as separate sound cards handle game and chat audio. With this, teams can set the proper balance on their headsets without having to leave the game.
SECOND CHALLENGE: VANDAL VS PHANTOM
For this challenge, one team will use Vandal rifles while the other will use Phantom. Both of these rifles are quite popular in Valorant but not inherently different in terms of effectiveness. Here’s a great article on a quick look at their differences.
For this round, teams will get to experience a more immersive gaming battle with the JBL QuantumSOUND Signature technology. These Hi-Res certified 50mm neodymium drivers were designed by expert JBL audiologists to deliver pro-level gaming audio. Players will experience the most realistic soundscape – from the tiniest footsteps to the loudest explosions – for a maximum competitive advantage.
THIRD CHALLENGE: RADIANT BOSS BATTLE
Finally, teams will move to the defining RADIANT BOSS BATTLE exhibition match. Here, teams will test their strategy and willpower as they prevent the Boss (a high-ranking Radiant or a pro Valorant player) from winning a round to claim the entire match.
As this is a crucial round, concentration will be a secret weapon. JBL Quantum One’s Active Noise Cancelling system eliminates unwanted background sounds, so teams will be fully in the zone without the unnecessary distractions. And as every strategy is unique to every player, so will their headset. JBL has equipped each JBL Quantum One with JBL QuantumENGINE, which lets gamers personalize their headset. With this, they can create separate user profiles, modify microphone settings, and even activate RGB effects. A powerful tool to its core!
Quantum One. Its next-generation ergonomic design is comfortable, lightweight with superior ventilation, and made with premium leather-wrapped memory foam ear cushions to boot. All-nighter ready!
With JBL Quantum One’s cutting-edge technology, our competing teams will have superior armory to elevate their gaming experience – and their victory – to the next level. For in this first JBL Quantum Valorant Celebrity Challenge, #SoundIsSurvival.
