We’re currently finishing our full review of the Huawei Matebook 14, having published our hands on and first impression a few days ago and we continue to be impressed with what the Matebook 14 has to offer for it’s price tag.
Given it’s compact form factor, brought about by it’s super narrow 4 side narrow bezels and sleekishly thin metal chassis – it’s hard to find any other laptop in the market today that packs a 6 core 12 thread laptop under 16mm and priced at less than PHP70,000. Huwaei even takes it much further by having the starting price at JUST PHP54,995.
We know what you’d probably say, though. “You can get a gaming laptop for the same price and with it’s own discrete GPU”. Sure, we agree – but just how thick or how portable is your gaming laptop? How long does your battery life last? Does it’s panel have full glass all around it? And does it cover 100% of the sRGB spectrum?
We’re willing to bet with you that it’s a solid NO.
This is what makes the Huawei Matebook 14 a solid recommendation from us for the perfect workhouse to lug around with you anywhere you go, and even for e-learning. There’s just no other laptop like it in the market today. (Atleast, not fot it’s price).

THE GORGEROUS SCREEN
The Huwaei Matebook D14 has a gorgeous all glass 14″ panel with QHD resolution and a tall 3:2 aspect ratio. This means more content and less scrolling. See more of your documents without having to move up or down the screen.
Further, the IPS panel covers 100% of the sRGB color spectrum so content creation is greatly enjoyable on this device.
2. PERFORMANCE
Most ultrabooks these days will net you good performance as more and more powerful CPUs area released by either Intel or AMD. However, Huawei chose not to settle for ULTRA LOW VOLTAGE CPUs and went ahead to equip the Matebook 14 with a Ryzen 5 4600H CPU, mostly seen on gaming laptops. This means that rendering and cpu intensive tasks will be a breeze on the Huawei Matebook 14 – something that most ultrabooks fail at given their low power cpus.
3. BATTERY LIFE
The Huawei Matebook D14 is equipped with a large 56Whr Battery that can net you a full day of work in a single charge. The best part? It has fast charging capabilities that gives you 2.5hours of work time in with just a 15 minute charge. This was surely taken from a page of their smartphone charging prowess and we love that Huawei has done it with their laptop.
4. FORM FACTOR
This 4th reason may not be as special but it’s how HUAWEI was able to fit in all other specifications and features of the laptop in it’s form factor that really wows us. Coming in at only 15.9mm, and being clad in full aluminum all around? This laptop is something you wouldn’t expect to be fully maxed out with an H series processor, 16GB of ram, 512GB of SSD and that large battery we just talked about.
The over-all design is also very timeless having well spaced keys, a power button that doubles as a fingerprint reader and even an NFC function for phone mirroring. How cool is that?
5. PRICE
We can’t stress this enough. If we had not known the SRP of the laptop before we started to read through the spec sheet and seen the actual device – we would peg it at atleast around PHP69,995. I mean, that’s how much any similar laptops cost in the market these days, right?
To our surprise though, this laptop was priced at just PHP54,995. At this price, it strong arms a lot of similar notebooks that come with a 15W CPU, “ONLY” 8GB of ram and only a regular FHD panel that almost always fail to cover better color coverage so TO US at Kantotech, the Huawei Matebook 14 is the no brainer choice of the best value performance ultrabook in the market today.
Hands down, the Matebook 14 is one of the best (if not THE best) ultrabook in the market to come out this 2020.
