ROG has been teasing some sort of fancy lights on their facebook and instagram page for a while now and we thought it was just a new software implementation for their AURA SYNC technology. It turns out we were wrong. Here’s the teaser from ASUS.
What they actually are, however, is a bunch load of MINI-LED’s that will fill up 50% of the METAL LID cover of the gaming laptops and go on and off to produce various visuals. It seems this implementation will be available for ALL ROG LAPTOPS but will depend on each region or country to choose to include them or not per model. Countries may choose not to bring the LED lights to save on costs, for example.
Here’s the lid when the LED’s are off.
Here it is when the LED’s are turned on.
This is just a leak for now based on the latest leaked photos of the Ryzen 4000 equipped Zephyrus G but we are inclined to believe this will be the same cover panels for the STRIX 4 series given that the Zephyrus G is actually an entry level ROG. It is only fitting that the higher end models receive the same flair.
Further, we are receiving reports that all NEW ROG laptops will have a 240hz option for panels and that the TUF gaming panels will now have up to 165HZ. These are all unconfirmed as of yet but there’s only a few days left before all of this goes official. Also, the gaming laptops may be receiving new naming schemes as well. the new Zephyrus G will now be called ZEPHYRUS G15 to denote the 15″ panel size. There may be a 17″ in the works too if that’s the case.
