The Asus VivoBook S series are known for their colorful ID and that continues with the 2019 series of the S14 and S15. While last year was more youthful and playful, this year’s paint jobs are more sleek and classy.

You can choose between Moss Green, Punk Pink, Cobalt Blue, Transparent Silver, and Gun Metal in 14″ or 15″ screen sizes. The variants don’t stop there, however. The S431/S531 versions will be the regular versions while the S432/S532 variants will have Asus’ exclusive ScreenPad technology that replaces the touchpad with a 6inch screen!

All VivoBook S14 and S15 variants offer a choice of the Intel Whiskey Lake Core i7-8565U or the Core i5-8265U processor and, if you want, a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. ASUS’ signature NanoEdge displays and ErgoLift keyboards are also present in the 2019 series offerint better and more ergonomic usage. Connectivity and I/O for all the models are same — no Thunderbolt 3 but 802.11ax (Wifi6) and Bluetooth 5 are available on top of IR cameras for Microsoft’s Windows Hello and Harman Kardon-certified speakers.

The winning feature really is the ScreenPad, to be honest. By trickling it down to mainstream products, there is a higher chance of adoptability. With ScreenPad 2.0, you can handwrite, switch to a virtual NumPad, or automate repetitive keyboard sequences. Asus is also inviting third-party developers to leverage the ScreenPad API to offer tailor-made experiences to users.

The VivoBook S14 431FL/FA features a 47Wh 2-cell battery while the rest of the models are powered by a 42Wh 3-cell battery. The laptops can be fast-charged from 0 to 69% in 49 minutes.

Pricing and availability are yet to be announced but we expect this to be available in Q3 2019 with a price of no more than PHP3000 higher than the current versions (S430/S530). It just doesn’t make sense if ASUS starts to charge a premium for mainstream offerings. If it does, we might as well go straight for their Zenbook line.
