We had a chance to see all of MSI’s latest products in Taipei’s premiere I.T Exhibit – Computex, and we were wowed by all the products they had on display. There were A LOT of new offerings amd each one was nothing short of amazing. What caught our eye the most, though, was the non-rgb simple-looking elegant laptop side that everyone was seemingly not noticing – MSI’s Ultrabooks.
YES. MSI also makes consumer ultrabooks. I mean, why shouldn’t they? They have bragging rights to some of the thinnest and best gaming ultrabooks in the market so it’s only fitting that they know how to create a pretty fine non-gaming ultrabook too!
Enter the PS42 Prestige series.
Okay. We know. The name isn’t all too amazing like it sounds with their gaming crop – GT83 or GS73 – but hey – the laptop is preeeettttyyyyy fine.
The laptop is reminiscent of the GS65 Stealth thin series in terms of design, albeit in a more consumer skin. It carries up to a 4core 8thread Intel Core i7 8th generation processor and 512GB of blazing fast PCIEx4 NVME SSD. It even carries an MX150 GPU for extra oomph or light gaming. What makes this laptop impressive isn’t the top of the line specifications though – it’s the fact that MSI has managed to cram all of that inside just a 15.9mm thin chassis and keep the weight under 1.2kilograms.
MSI has also managed to reduce the bezels to a mere 5.7mm thin, making the PS42 one of the most compact 14inch ultrabooks in the market, thus far.
So there you have it. If you ask us, MSI Philippines should definitely bring this locally. It should shake up the market, especially if they bring it at a very competitive price.
The market is already filled with ASUS Zenbooks, Acer Swifts and Dell XPS series but, hey, options are quite welcome especially if it leads to better products and more affordable price points.
Specifications wise, we hope to see the 2 following configurations locally.
14inch / i5-8250u / 256GB PCIex4 Nvme SSD / 8GB Ram / MX150 GPU for roughly P59,995
14inch / i7-8550u / 512GB PCIex4 Nvme SSD / 16GB ram / MX150 GPU / 74,995
Note that these are our spec to price estimates and no way official. We do hope MSI PH decides to bring it.
