Dell Re-brands the Inspiron Gaming 7000 series to Dell G Series

In a very unexpected move, Dell is refreshing it’s gaming line up but gives it a new naming scheme. Dubbed the Dell Gaming Series – the Dell G3, G5 and G7 are the new incarnations of what used to be the Inspiron Gaming 7000 series.

We are not quite sure yet what the differences are given the specs are nearly identical wherein you’ve got a choice betwen the same Core i5-8300H or Core i7-8750H paired with either an Nvidia GTX1050, GTX1050ti and GTX1060 MaxQ. Only the G3 series get a 17inch option though and that the G7 series gets a plus for having an optional Core i9-8950HK .

What the new configuration tells us though is that the G5 series are what directly used to be the Inspiron gaming 7000 series and that the G3 is a more affordable version and the G7 a more sophisticated version with better cooling and better material. The G3, however, is Dell’s thinnest gaming laptop to date at only 22.7mm.

This is also quite evident given that the G series start at only 749USD, the G5 at 849USD and the higher-end G7 at 1099USD.
